Fun little pattern I put together.
The mentality that has lead people to dismiss genocide in favor of a hope that they will not recieve consequences from the incoming administration feels very similar to the mentality that tells a teen or young adult that if someone at a party starts to OD you should scatter to avoid getting in trouble. I had always considered that issue to be a result of failed parenting (and I still do), but it is also a result of a failed culture. Culture of individualism. Culture of selfishness. Culture of dehumanizing and commanding. Culture of punishment.
