Science in Fantasy

I have a lot of feelings about so many book oppinions.

Let’s talk about this hate for science in fantasy.

1. If you like potions class but not blasters, it’s not a science issue it is a “I want mideaval fantasy” issue.

2. It feels very tunnel visioned and biased to see people say “why would they use this or that tech device if there’s magic?” in a world where people walk to commute (and are fussing for cities better designed for walking) when we have cars.

3. Especially for folks here in the west there is an incistence on a segregation between “modern and future” from “traditional” which does feel like a very strong way imperialism is embedded in us.

I feel like so many “takes” around books (and So many other thing frankly) are more about feeling like “equality is when every book that catches my attention feels like it was trying to center me”. And that’s not equality, that’s wanting a privilege you watched others enjoy.

And for right now, I will not elaborate any further.
