Writing Updates!
Salutations, Friends!
I have been super excited about some things with my writing and I don’t have anyone I think would care but that’s what the blog’s for.
Editing
So I have started working on the edits for The Queen of Thieves #5 and it has been so exilerating.
And tedious
This book is gonna be a page one rewrite.
And I’ve known it for a while (honestly since I first drafted it). But the thing with this series is the amount of time spent between phases of these books has let me so much time to work and strengthen the story. I drafted #5 years ago (2018/19 time) and I published #4 a year ago. While I was working on other projects, I have been reworking this story in my mind and at this point, I know exactly what I need to do. Actually doing it, writing every individual word to make up the scenes in my head, is a process. And taking a red pen and turning the pages of the book into a roreshack test is exhausting, but I am so excited with how it’s gonnna turn out.
A theme we’re gonna see with regards to this process is time.
A thing I came across with Imani and Aaliayah’s Fashion Bible is that I jsut didn’t have the mental problem solving time with that book as I had with stuff for the Queen of Thieves and that’s because I went straight from drafting to edit #1 then edit #2, etc. (How weird and unheard of). But to help, a thing I’m gonna start doing is inbetween edits of one book I’ll go and work on a different one and keep swapping between them, replacing one with a different as it finishes.
And unfortunately the next book I’ll probably work on just due to what’s actually done drafting is also a page one rewrite.
I’m gonna eventually get The Sins of Regret into some kind of shape.
But that is also gonna be rough.
Drafting
So I’ve been drafting a lot of different things. And the reason for that is the same issue I had with Imani and Aaliyah, I would run into walls with this book and because I felt like I had to finish that one before I could start another draft, I just stopped writing for a while.
We’re not doing that anymore and it’s been so much better.
The book is my dodgeball WIP.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.
My girls jsut had their first really intimate moment and I love them.
I just love them.
That’s all.
The book I started (and finished) to help me get space and time with the dodgeball wip was the first book of my future fantasy series.
Oh, and I have loved that book to no end. It’s horny and gory and I’m obsessed.
And I can’t wait to write book #2 because I’ve been working through some story things for the series and I jsut can’t wait to bring them to life.
And way down the line, I may have a peter pan type story that I can’t wait to work on.
